The Healthcare Billing and Coding certificate program covers how to document medical records, the coding definitions, electronic data interchange and billing management, health insurance and claims, the government programs and data entry, and more. Students will learn how to use the basic software that is used in coding and billing, along with medical office management. Classes cover all of the duties and tasks needed to be proficient in the front office, as well as with medical terminology and the insurance billing and coding process. At the end of the program, students have the opportunity to take the National Healthcare Association Certified Billing and Coding Specialist Exam.

Medical Administrative Assistant
The medical administrative assistant program covers the essentials of the front end of a medical office. In this course, students discover how to create, maintain, and file medical charts. You'll learn what a day sheet is, why it's important, and how to keep track of all your patient accounts on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis. You'll also find out how to verify patients' insurance, create encounter forms (charge tickets), obtain pre-authorizations from insurers, and schedule return visits. Students explore accounts receivable tasks including posting payments and adjustments, billing secondary insurance and following up on unpaid insurance claims. They will master the basics of scheduling patients' appointments, surgeries, and hospital admissions. Finally, students delve into the basics of keeping a medical office running smoothly—from ordering supplies to scheduling staff meetings and making travel arrangements. Students will then begin learning basic medical terminology and the essential concepts of the medical language word structure.

Distribution and Warehouse Operations
